Special Issue of “The 9th Youth Geoscience Forum” calls for papers

The Youth Geoscience Forum, initiated by young Chinese geoscientists, has been established as an open, equal, and vigorous platform for exchange, with eminent scientists serving as advisors and young scholars and graduate students as the main participants. Since its inception in 2014, the forum has been held in Lanzhou (2014), Urumqi (2015), Xi'an (2016), Chengdu (2017), Nanjing (2018), Xining (2019), Guiyang (2021), and Wuhan (2023), gradually evolving into a feast of academic exchange and ideological collision for young geoscientists in China.

The 9th Youth Geoscience Forum is scheduled to be held in Xiamen, Fujian Province, from May 17 to 20, 2024. It plans to feature twenty themes and is currently inviting geoscientists nationwide to participate in this forum and propose topics for the various sub-forums.

Special Issue Information

In order to broaden the research horizons of young scientists of geoscience, track the frontier trends, and realize interdisciplinary integration and innovation, a special issue was organized. The theme of this issue is 'Publishing frontier and innovative achievements in geoscience scientific research'. Young geoscientists are warmly invited to contribute to this Special Issue.

Submission Deadline:December 30, 2024

Journal Introduction

Research in Cold and Arid Regions (RCAR) is a bimonthly journal that publishes the latest research achievements in processes and the patterns of the Earth surface system in cold and arid regions in English. Researches in cold regions emphasize particularly on the cold-region-characterized physical, chemical and biological processes and their interactions, and on the response of cryosphere to global change and human activities as well as their effects on environment and the acclimatizable strategies; focus on the objects of glacier, snow, river, lake, sea ice, permafrost and seasonal frozen ground, and periglacial geomorphology, etc.; and think much of cold regions engineering and technology. Researches in arid regions emphasize particularly on the arid-region-characterized physical, chemical and biological processes and their interactions, and on the response of arid regions to global change and human activities as well as their effects on environment and the acclimatizable strategies; focus on the objects of desert, oasis, loess, and aeolian landforms, etc.; and support integrated studies on mountain-desert-oasis system in arid watershed with water resources as masterstroke, so as to provide reliable technological support for water safety, ecology safety and food safety in arid regions.
