Information of “The 6th National Cold Area Geotechnical Mechanics and Engineering youth Academic Forum”
The National Youth Academic Forum on Geotechnical Mechanics and Engineering in Cold Regions was initiated by Xi 'an University of Science and Technology in 2018, aiming to discuss the problems existing in basic theories and engineering practices under the theme of 'Geotechnical Mechanics and Engineering in Cold Regions', provide an open academic exchange platform for young scholars engaged in geotechnical mechanics and engineering in cold regions, and improve the crossover and development of disciplines. Spark a clash of ideas.
At present, it has successfully held five sessions in Xi 'an (2018), Chongqing (2019), Lanzhou (2020), Xuzhou (2021) and Harbin (2022), and has been praised by young scholars of cold area engineering.
Drawing on the successful experience of the previous five sessions, the sixth National Youth Academic Forum on Geotechnical Mechanics and Engineering in Cold Regions, sponsored by Anhui University of Science & Technology, will be held in Hefei, Anhui Province from April 26 to 28, 2024.
This meeting focused on the theme of 'New theories and technologies in geotechnical engineering and artificial freezing engineering in cold areas', and discussed the new theories and technologies in geotechnical engineering and artificial freezing engineering in cold areas, the interaction between environmental changes and engineering in cold areas, and promoted the safety construction of geotechnical engineering in cold areas.
Special Column Information
In order to broaden the research horizons of young scholars of cold area geotechnical mechanics and engineering, track the frontier trends, and realize interdisciplinary integration and innovation, a youth forum of cold area geotechnical mechanics and engineering was organized. The theme of this forum is 'New theories and technologies in geotechnical engineering and artificial freezing engineering in cold areas'. Young scholars engaged in new theories and technologies in geotechnical engineering, artificial freezing engineering in cold areas, cold region geography and environment, and cold region resource development are warmly invited to contribute to this Special Column.
Journal Introduction:
Research in Cold and Arid Regions (SCAR) is a bimonthly journal that publishes the latest research achievements in processes and the patterns of the Earth surface system in cold and arid regions in English. Researches in cold regions emphasize particularly on the cold-region-characterized physical, chemical and biological processes and their interactions, and on the response of cryosphere to global change and human activities as well as their effects on environment and the acclimatizable strategies; focus on the objects of glacier, snow, river, lake, sea ice, permafrost and seasonal frozen ground, and periglacial geomorphology, etc.; and think much of cold regions engineering and technology. Researches in arid regions emphasize particularly on the arid-region-characterized physical, chemical and biological processes and their interactions, and on the response of arid regions to global change and human activities as well as their effects on environment and the acclimatizable strategies; focus on the objects of desert, oasis, loess, and aeolian landforms, etc.; and support integrated studies on mountain-desert-oasis system in arid watershed with water resources as masterstroke, so as to provide reliable technological support for water safety, ecology safety and food safety in arid regions.
